About the project

Fictional narrative title sequence I created for »Mockingjay«, the third installment of the »Hunger Games« trilogy. It is based on the results of a theoretical thesis about narrative title design I wrote before.

The narration of the title is based on the symbolism of the story and uses a graphical style, referring to the »propos« from the original (book) story. The narrative of the sequence deals with the development of protagonist Katniss Everdeen, symbolized by the Mockingjay bird, and the consequences of her actions visualized through metaphors.

I created the entire project including the narrative concept of the title, the graphic and design process including storyboarding and illustration and the animation.

After publishing the sequence it went viral and resulted in various articles and an invitation from Lionsgate to a cast event in Los Angeles.
